🩹 First Aid Training for our Volunteers! 🚑 Some of our adult volunteers spent their weekend learning and refreshing their first aid skills — an essential requirement for all our volunteers working with young people. It was a busy weekend of learning practical skills, building confidence and preparing for those situations where knowing what to do really matters. A huge thank you to Tim Cranton, our resident medic, who brought plenty of humour, great stories and real-world experience to the training. 👏 And congratulations to all our volunteers who successfully completed the course and gained this very valuable qualification. 🎉 We’re incredibly grateful to all our volunteers for giving up their time to keep learning, developing their skills and, most importantly, helping us keep our young people safe. Well done everyone! ⚜️❤️ #praguescouts #scouts #volunteers #firstaidtraining #SkillsForLife #scouting #ThankYouVolunteers

Our Squirrels had a lovely session in the park! We spent some time getting closer to nature and to our feelings. We relaxed with some gentle yoga, explored our creativity with drawings inspired by the world around us, and finished with a very exciting plane-racing competition!

🌎⚜️ **1st Prague Explorers Take on a Traditional Scout Game!** 🏹 Our Explorers this week took part in a traditional Scout game called **Argolla India** — also known as the **Mayan Hoop** or *Aro Indio*! The game was taught by our very own leader **Nana**, who first learnt to play it as a Scout in **Costa Rica** 🇨🇷. Now she has passed the tradition on to our Explorers here in Prague! The game sees two teams compete to pass a rope ring between players and ultimately land or catch it on a goal stick. 🎯 It takes **teamwork, communication, coordination and plenty of skill** — along with a healthy dose of competitive spirit! Even more special, our Explorers were able to use **special quoits (rings) handcrafted by Scouts from Grupo Guia y Scout 262 in Costa Rica**. 🇨🇷⚜️ What a fantastic international Scouting connection — a game learnt by Nana as a young Scout in Costa Rica, handmade equipment from Costa Rican Scouts, and now being enjoyed by the next generation of Scouts here in Prague! 🌍❤️ **Scouting really is a worldwide adventure!** ⚜️🌎 #praguescouts #explorerscouts #scouting #argollaindia #AroIndio #costaricascouts #internationalscouting #scoutgames #teamwork #adventure

The sky is the limit (or is it?) for our Cubs and we proved it with a visit to Lanové centrum PROUD Praha. It was a day full of thrills, chills, and smiles as we pushed past the limits of what we thought possible. We surprised ourselves at every turn, demonstrating real courage, persistence, teamwork, and camaraderie. We did it—and we did it together! The outing really set the adventure bar high for the rest of the session. Thank you to PROUD for hosting us and making us feel so welcome. #CubsRule #PreparedForLife #SkillsForLife British Scouting Overseas #dontlookdown

Our Beavers had a busy session learning about volunteering, gratitude, and helping others! 🦫 We learned about the importance of volunteers, we put our teamwork to the test with a community-building challenge, and made thank-you cards for our volunteers at Gilwell. We finished with a “Find the Good” relay, to show that even tricky situations can have something good hiding in them! Lots of building, crafting, sharing, and helping along the way. 💙🦫

The Cubs this week continued to get to know one another and to learn about scouting traditions and values. We played a bunch of team-building games and generally had a blast in a quick-moving session on a crisp fall evening. We also prepared for next week's investitures! #PreparedForLife #CubsRule #doyourbest British Scouting Overseas #allforone

September 19 was something of an historic date for 1st Prague Scout Group with the first-ever session of our new Gilwell Club. Going forward, our most eager Scouts and Explorers, as well as Cubs in leadership roles, will gather to talk about what kind of scouts we want to be and how we can get there together. In the introductory session, we discussed self-respect and taking ourselves and one another seriously. We also prepared for JOTA-JOTI, which we will be participating in next month. We thought about how we can best represent scouting in Prague and drafted a few good questions for the scouts we will be virtually meeting. It was a great start, and the young people demonstrated impressive commitment and thoughtfulness. #PreparedForLife British Scouting Overseas #ScoutingValues #scoutingtraditions #doyourbest #whywescout

🤝 Scouting meets Business Networking! 🌟 This week, some of our 1st Prague Explorer Scouts and Leaders had the opportunity to attend a British Chamber of Commerce Czech Republic Networking Event — helping us raise the profile of 1st Prague Scouts and build connections with local businesses. Our Explorers played an important role during the evening, helping with event registration and welcoming guests as they arrived. A great opportunity to put their communication and people skills into practice! 👋 The evening was a huge success! 🎉 We were delighted to gain new business contacts and connections. A big thank you to the British Chamber of Commerce (Czech Republic) for giving our Explorers the opportunity to get involved, and to everyone who took the time to speak with us and learn more about what we do. Who knows where these new connections might lead… 🚀⚜️ #praguescouts #explorerscouts #scouting #britishchamberprague #praguebusinessopportunity #networking #communitysupport #youthdevelopment #scouts

🌞 Explorers + sunshine + pi pretty good evening! 🪢🌳 Our 1st Prague Explorers made the most of the evening sunshine this week with a trip to Letná Park for some good old-fashioned pioneering fun! The Explorers got stuck into building Da Vinci Bridges 🤔🪵, tackled some A-frame racing 🏃‍♂️💨 and generally proved that tying bits of wood together can be surprisingly competitive! There were plenty of laughs, a few engineering challenges, and just enough sunshine to make us forget we were supposed to be concentrating! 😂 Who needs a gym when you have pioneering? 💪😄 #explorerscouts #davincibridge #scouting #scouts #letnapark #praguescouts

Our Cubs got back to work this week, welcoming quite a few new members—some moving up from Beavers and some new friends joining 1st Prague. We discussed the Cub promise and the Cub Scout law, both of which guide us in all we do. We played games and thought about what our badges signify. It was a great way to get to know one another. "Akela, we will do our best!" #CubsRule British Scouting Overseas #doyourbest #scoutsarefamily #PreparedForLife

🦫✨ What a fantastic start to our new Beaver year! ✨🦫 We kicked things off with plenty of fun, laughter and getting-to-know-you activities. The kids played some fun name games, tried a little calming yoga 🧘‍♀️, and started thinking about their goals for their Personal Challenge badges. They also discovered more about all the exciting adventures, activities and experiences we have planned for the year ahead. 🏕️🌿 We’re looking forward to a wonderful year full of learning, growing, making new friends and, of course, lots of adventures together! 💚 🦫

🏕️ Celebrating Achievement, Music & the Start of a New Scout Year! 🏕️ This Thursday, we came together to celebrate the start of a new Scout year with our young people, leaders, families and supporters — and it was a fantastic evening! 🎉 With a BBQ, plenty of food and good company, we had a great opportunity to celebrate everything our young people have achieved over the past year. 🌭🔥 We were delighted to recognise the achievements of our young people who have gained their Chief Scout’s Awards during the past year. 🏅 The Chief Scout’s Award is the highest award a young person can achieve in their section of Scouts. It recognises commitment, achievement, personal development and taking part in a wide range of activities and challenges throughout the year. It is a fantastic achievement and something every recipient should be incredibly proud of! 👏 🏆 Our Special Bronze Scout Awards We were also incredibly pleased to present one young person from each section with our Group's special Bronze Scout Award. These awards recognise the young people who have really shone throughout the year — those who demonstrate the spirit of Scouting, support others, get involved, challenge themselves and truly embody what it means to be a Scout. These aren't simply awards for completing requirements. They are our way of saying "we've noticed what you do, and we're proud of you." ❤️ 🎸 And then there was the music! We were also treated to some fantastic entertainment provided by some of our Scouts, who perform together in a band. It was brilliant to see our young people sharing their talents and providing the soundtrack to our celebrations! 🎶👏 A huge well done to all of our award recipients, and to everyone who has contributed to another successful year of Scouting. Your enthusiasm, commitment, talents and achievements are what make our Group so special. And now… here's to another year of adventure, challenge, friendship, new experiences and making memories! ⚜️ #scouts #chiefscoutsaward #praguescouts #scoutslife

🌍 Two of our Explorers get ready for Poland 2027! What an incredible week for two of 1st Prague's Explorer Scouts, Viggo and Tudor, who have spent the last week at Poacher International Jamboree 2026 with UK Unit 1 - Overseas - BSO & Gibraltar! Poacher is Lincolnshire’s International Jamboree, held at the Lincolnshire Showground, bringing together more than 5,500 Scouts and Guides from around the world for a week packed with adventure, activities, friendship and international Scouting. But for Viggo and Tudor, this week has had an even more important purpose. They have had the opportunity to meet the leaders and fellow Scouts who they will be travelling to Poland with next year as part of the UK Contingent to the 26th World Scout Jamboree in 2027. Getting to know the people you'll be living, travelling and Scouting alongside is a huge part of preparing for a World Jamboree — and what better way to start than by sharing a week of camp together! Poacher offers a huge programme of activities, from high-adrenaline challenges and traditional Scout activities to new experiences, entertainment and international opportunities. We're delighted that Viggo and Tudor have been able to take part and start building the friendships and team spirit that will help make Poland 2027 such an amazing experience. Next stop: Poland 2027! 🌍 One World. One Jamboree. ⚜️ 1st Prague Scout Group A huge thank you to UK Unit 1 – Overseas – BSO & Gibraltar and the wider British Scouting Overseas for welcoming them and helping them become part of the team! #praguescouts #Scouts #Explorers #Poacher2026 #WSJ2027 #Poland2027 #WorldScoutJamboree #UKContingent #BSO #Gibraltar #Scouting #InternationalScouting #ScoutsOfTheWorld

📬 Post from Mappy the Beaver! 🦫✈️🇫🇷 What a fantastic surprise arrived at the 1st Prague Scout Group this week – a postcard from one of our Beavers, featuring our adventurous mascot, Mappy the Beaver! It looks like Mappy has been having an incredible summer holiday, travelling across France and ticking off some amazing sights along the way. From camping by the sea and visiting the famous Puy du Fou, to seeing the giant mechanical elephant in Nantes, exploring Mont Saint-Michel, and even stopping by Paris and the Eiffel Tower, Mappy has certainly been busy! We absolutely love seeing our young people take Mappy along on their adventures and share their experiences with the rest of the Colony. It's a wonderful way to encourage curiosity, travel, and storytelling while staying connected with their Scout friends over the summer. A huge thank you to our Beaver and family for sending us this brilliant postcard. We hope Mappy continues to have many more adventures before returning home to Prague! 🌍 Where will Mappy travel next? 🦫 #praguescout #beavers #scouting #SkillsForLife
